Natural Makeup Look

I thought I would share my everyday natural makeup routine with you, to hopefully give you some tips or advice on any products I use, and how to achieve a more subtle makeup look ūüôā

Before I apply any makeup, I use the Garnier Micellar Water to cleanse my face and remove any impurities from my skin.

Using the Ecotools Eye Perfecting brush, place the Natural Collection concealer under the eyes and on any blemishes on the skin.

Blend the Rimmel Long Lasing foundation into the skin, with the Ecotools Skin Perfecting brush. Then place an additional layer of concealer under the eyes in the shade Light, to brighten up the eyes.

Set your foundation and concealer with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, using the Ecotools Mattifying finish brush. I use this powder in the shade 003 Peach Glow, as it adds a little colour and glow to the powder.

Apply the bronzer from the Collection Contour Kit with the Spectrum Collections D01 brush. Use this to sculpt your cheekbones, and to add colour and dimension to the forehead and jawline.

Using the same brush, place the Natural Collection Blusher in the shade Pink Cloud on the apples of your cheeks, to add a pretty pop of colour to your makeup look.

Then, one of my favourite steps,¬†to finish off your coverage, place the highlighter from the Collection Contour kit on the top of your cheekbones and in your T-Zone. To do this, I use the angled brush from Primark’s Ps… range.

Moving onto eyes, use the Barry M Natural Glow eyeshadow palette, place the lightest shade all of the eye as a base. Use the matte dusty pink shade in the outer corners of the eye and blend in using the Ecotools Full Eyeshadow Brush. Finally, for a touch of shimmer blend in the dusty pink shimmer shade to this base.

You can then use the Natural Collection eyeliner pencil in Black along your waterline. Pair this with the Collection felt eyeliner pen along the top of your eyeline, to subtly accentuate your eyes.

I then finish off my eyes by curling my eyelashes and applying the Model Co Black Mascara to the top and bottom lashes.

I then use the Natural Collection Brow Pencil in the shade Dark Brown to fill in my brows. After brushing out your natural eyebrows, lightly fill them in to give them a more defined shape. I like to keep them quite light and natural looking, but of course it’s down to personal preference.

To finish off my makeup look, I use the Soap and Glory Lipstick in the shade The Missing Pink, which is a lovely, nude shade. You can then use the Tanya Burr Champagne Toast Lipgloss alongside this, depending on how Natural you want to keep the look.

Fangirl, Rainbow Rowell

books2.jpgI was excited to read Fangirl after seeing it in the WHSmith’s Zoella Book Club. It follows Cath and Wren, identical twin sisters, as they leave home for university. They both have very different personalities and take to university life in completely different ways. It’s a story of growing up, fanfiction and, of course, love.

The thing I loved most about Fangirl was the narrative writing style. It’s written in 3rd person, but is through the perspective of Cath, which I think makes the novel really clever and much more intriguing to read. I also loved being able to relate to the storyline. Whilst I don’t write¬†fanfiction,¬†I understand what it’s like to be passionate about something and to want to incorporate that passion into my everyday life. Cath and Wren are at similar stages in their lives to myself, so I really enjoyed reading their stories, for that reason.

Even talking about them here, almost as if they were real, you can see that I found the characters really likeable. I especially like the bond that’s formed between Cath, Levi and Reagan, as its not your typical ‘friendship’ story.

I Knew You Were Trouble, Paige Toonbooks.jpg

I only found out after reading I Knew You Were Trouble that its actually the¬†2nd¬†book to the Jessie Jefferson collection! So I don’t want to give too much of the plot away, because it will inevitably contain spoilers for the 1st novel.

However, I found I knew You Were Trouble to be a really light and easy to read story, with a plot¬†that offers escapism; a perfect summer read! I found it easy to engage with the plot and understand each of the characters. Jessie, the protagonist, is definitely likeable and I only wish that I’d have discovered the 1st book before this one, so that I could have got involved with her journey a little more!

Everyday, David Levithan

books4.jpgEveryday follows A who, whilst is still himself, wakes up in a different body each day. It is only when he meets Rhiannon, after living in the body of her boyfriend, that he begins to open up about his life, and wants to form more personal relationships.

I absoloutely love the way that David Levithan writes in this book. I think his writing style is so eloquent, that some of his words really made me think about certain concepts, and often stayed with me long after I’d put the book down. The storyline he has chosen for this book really intrigued me, as its something so different to everything else that’s out there. I also really liked A, the main character, as his personality and words appeared to be so genuine and pragmatic.

After reading Everyday, I cannot wait to read more of David Levithan’s books, as I’m sure they too will live up to the quality of Everyday.

August Favourites

I haven’t written a monthly favourites post in so long, but I am so happy to get back to it! I’ve created a list of the top 5 beauty products I have been loving throughout August.

  1. Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation: I recently tried out Rimmel’s long lasting foundation in the shade 010 light porcelain. I’ve found its really easy to blend, and gives great, even coverage. It also matches my skin tone perfectly and lasts throughout the whole day.
  2. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: This matte powder is a perfect way to hold makeup in place, without adding an extra layer to my makeup. It feels very light, whilst managing to make your look appear more flawless and finished.
  3. Spectrum Collections D01 makeup brush: This makeup brush by Spectrum Collections can be used for any powder products. I therefore like to use it for my bronzer and blusher as part of my makeup routine. Its super soft and therefore helps to blend products really well.
  4. Schwarzkopf Shine Spray:¬†I’m always looking for products to use for when my hair feels a little dry and lifeless, especially after applying heat to it. And I have found that this shine spray makes my hair feel a lot softer, with it giving a shine to my hair after straightening it.
  5. Garnier Micellar Water:¬†I use Garnier’s Micellar Water to both cleanse my skin and remove my makeup. Its perfect for sensitive skin, as it doesn’t have any harsh chemicals as part of its formula. It also leaves my skin feeling really soft, so I always use it as part of my skincare routine.
