Natural Makeup Look

I thought I would share my everyday natural makeup routine with you, to hopefully give you some tips or advice on any products I use, and how to achieve a more subtle makeup look ūüôā

Before I apply any makeup, I use the Garnier Micellar Water to cleanse my face and remove any impurities from my skin.

Using the Ecotools Eye Perfecting brush, place the Natural Collection concealer under the eyes and on any blemishes on the skin.

Blend the Rimmel Long Lasing foundation into the skin, with the Ecotools Skin Perfecting brush. Then place an additional layer of concealer under the eyes in the shade Light, to brighten up the eyes.

Set your foundation and concealer with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, using the Ecotools Mattifying finish brush. I use this powder in the shade 003 Peach Glow, as it adds a little colour and glow to the powder.

Apply the bronzer from the Collection Contour Kit with the Spectrum Collections D01 brush. Use this to sculpt your cheekbones, and to add colour and dimension to the forehead and jawline.

Using the same brush, place the Natural Collection Blusher in the shade Pink Cloud on the apples of your cheeks, to add a pretty pop of colour to your makeup look.

Then, one of my favourite steps,¬†to finish off your coverage, place the highlighter from the Collection Contour kit on the top of your cheekbones and in your T-Zone. To do this, I use the angled brush from Primark’s Ps… range.

Moving onto eyes, use the Barry M Natural Glow eyeshadow palette, place the lightest shade all of the eye as a base. Use the matte dusty pink shade in the outer corners of the eye and blend in using the Ecotools Full Eyeshadow Brush. Finally, for a touch of shimmer blend in the dusty pink shimmer shade to this base.

You can then use the Natural Collection eyeliner pencil in Black along your waterline. Pair this with the Collection felt eyeliner pen along the top of your eyeline, to subtly accentuate your eyes.

I then finish off my eyes by curling my eyelashes and applying the Model Co Black Mascara to the top and bottom lashes.

14331047_365869517134522_979482126_n

I then use the Natural Collection Brow Pencil in the shade Dark Brown to fill in my brows. After brushing out your natural eyebrows, lightly fill them in to give them a more defined shape. I like to keep them quite light and natural looking, but of course it’s down to personal preference.

To finish off my makeup look, I use the Soap and Glory Lipstick in the shade The Missing Pink, which is a lovely, nude shade. You can then use the Tanya Burr Champagne Toast Lipgloss alongside this, depending on how Natural you want to keep the look.

Recent Reads

Fangirl, Rainbow Rowell

books2.jpgI was excited to read Fangirl after seeing it in the WHSmith’s Zoella Book Club. It follows Cath and Wren, identical twin sisters, as they leave home for university. They both have very different personalities and take to university life in completely different ways. It’s a story of growing up, fanfiction and, of course, love.

The thing I loved most about Fangirl was the narrative writing style. It’s written in 3rd person, but is through the perspective of Cath, which I think makes the novel really clever and much more intriguing to read. I also loved being able to relate to the storyline. Whilst I don’t write¬†fanfiction,¬†I understand what it’s like to be passionate about something and to want to incorporate that passion into my everyday life. Cath and Wren are at similar stages in their lives to myself, so I really enjoyed reading their stories, for that reason.

Even talking about them here, almost as if they were real, you can see that I found the characters really likeable. I especially like the bond that’s formed between Cath, Levi and Reagan, as its not your typical ‘friendship’ story.

I Knew You Were Trouble, Paige Toonbooks.jpg

I only found out after reading I Knew You Were Trouble that its actually the¬†2nd¬†book to the Jessie Jefferson collection! So I don’t want to give too much of the plot away, because it will inevitably contain spoilers for the 1st novel.

However, I found I knew You Were Trouble to be a really light and easy to read story, with a plot¬†that offers escapism; a perfect summer read! I found it easy to engage with the plot and understand each of the characters. Jessie, the protagonist, is definitely likeable and I only wish that I’d have discovered the 1st book before this one, so that I could have got involved with her journey a little more!

Everyday, David Levithan

books4.jpgEveryday follows A who, whilst is still himself, wakes up in a different body each day. It is only when he meets Rhiannon, after living in the body of her boyfriend, that he begins to open up about his life, and wants to form more personal relationships.

I absoloutely love the way that David Levithan writes in this book. I think his writing style is so eloquent, that some of his words really made me think about certain concepts, and often stayed with me long after I’d put the book down. The storyline he has chosen for this book really intrigued me, as its something so different to everything else that’s out there. I also really liked A, the main character, as his personality and words appeared to be so genuine and pragmatic.

After reading Everyday, I cannot wait to read more of David Levithan’s books, as I’m sure they too will live up to the quality of Everyday.

August Favourites

I haven’t written a monthly favourites post in so long, but I am so happy to get back to it! I’ve created a list of the top 5 beauty products I have been loving throughout August.

  1. Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation: I recently tried out Rimmel’s long lasting foundation in the shade 010 light porcelain. I’ve found its really easy to blend, and gives great, even coverage. It also matches my skin tone perfectly and lasts throughout the whole day.
  2. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: This matte powder is a perfect way to hold makeup in place, without adding an extra layer to my makeup. It feels very light, whilst managing to make your look appear more flawless and finished.
  3. Spectrum Collections D01 makeup brush: This makeup brush by Spectrum Collections can be used for any powder products. I therefore like to use it for my bronzer and blusher as part of my makeup routine. Its super soft and therefore helps to blend products really well.
  4. Schwarzkopf Shine Spray:¬†I’m always looking for products to use for when my hair feels a little dry and lifeless, especially after applying heat to it. And I have found that this shine spray makes my hair feel a lot softer, with it giving a shine to my hair after straightening it.
  5. Garnier Micellar Water:¬†I use Garnier’s Micellar Water to both cleanse my skin and remove my makeup. Its perfect for sensitive skin, as it doesn’t have any harsh chemicals as part of its formula. It also leaves my skin feeling really soft, so I always use it as part of my skincare routine.

Natural Collection Cosmetics

With so many drugstore makeup brands hitting the shelves of Boots and Superdrug, I often like to try out different makeup ranges to see what each one has to offer. And one of my favourites of these is the Natural Beauty Collection by Boots.

Natural Collection isn’t the most popular or well-known. It’s a highly affordable range that sells products for the face, eyes, lips and nails. The quality of the products however, given the lower-end prices, is really¬†good and definitely better than can be expected.

Face

I have been using both their concealer and blusher for so long, because I think that the concealer blends really well and suits my paler complexion. The matte blusher is perfectly pigmented and looks really pretty on the skin.¬†The only product that I often steer away from is their Foundations and Tinted Moisturisers. When I tried them, I wasn’t as impressed with its coverage, or it’s ability to blend. ¬†They did however recently bring out highlighter sticks, which have a really pretty shimmer and high pigment to them.

Eyes

I have used a few of the Natural Collection eye shadows and found that the shades are very pastel and pretty and easy to blend with one another. They can be bought as singular ones or in a duo, with both a lighter and darker shade to blend together. Another product they have also recently bought out is their eyebrow pencils so, after loving their other products, I tried them and think they work really well to fill in and shape brows.

natural2.jpg

Lips

Natural Collection’s lipsticks are one of my favourite kind of lip products and, in my opinion, are as good as some of the higher end lipsticks. They’re moisturising on the lips and have a really good range of colours; both neutral and vibrant, to suit any makeup look.

Nails

The nail polishes from Natural come in a range of different colours and look very pretty when worn. Whilst they may not be as good quality as some of the higher end nail varnishes, they are definitely a great product for an affordable price. Their Hibiscus nail polish is one of my favourite polishes from my whole collection, as the colour is super pretty and and easy to apply.

The products pictured in the photos above:

Concealer (Light), Blusher (Pink Cloud), Lipstick (Cherry Red), Highlighter (Rose Glow), Brow Pencil (Dark Brown), Nail Polish (Hibiscus)

Do what makes you Happy

Everybody in this world is completely different. We all have tiny complexities that make us who we are and separate us from everybody else. That means that different things make different people happy. And I think not enough people can accept that.

Because it’s easy to get caught up in what everybody else is doing. It’s far more simple to go with crowd, follow everyone else’s actions and forget about the things that we really want to do. Of course that’s the easiest option, but it’s not necessarily the best one. Because following and imitating others is never really going to make us happy; it’s only going to make you feel like you ‘fit in’. When in reality, in order for the right people to really accept you, they have to know your individuality and the ways to make you smile.

Ballerina-legs-header

Embrace your differences and focus your energies, not on trying to be like everyone else, but rather on what makes you truly happy. And it doesn’t matter what that may look like to other people. They have their own worries, personalities and passions that inevitably make them completely different to who¬†you¬†are. The people that we need, and want in our lives will accept and love the things you choose to do and the way you choose to be. Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.

So do the things you love, focus on the people who appreciate you and live for you.

Little Life Update #1

My Little Life Update #1 …¬†

Like many other students across the UK, I recently received my A Level results. I was so happy and overwhelmed with my grades, as I had managed to exceed my hopes and expectations. It proved to me that all of the stress, worry and hard work had paid off and that I could be proud of what I’d managed to achieve.

And that means that I can now move on to the next chapter of my life, by starting University. After securing an unconditional place at my first choice uni in January, I’ve been super excited to start. Although I’m still not 100% sure what I would like to do in the future, I have decided to study Business, which I’m hoping to combine with my passion for the Performing Arts industry. I’m looking forward to studying what I enjoy, getting involved with University life and, of course, makin
g new friends. My excitement to start is mixed completely with nerves, as its scary to think that I’m going somewhere completely different with all new people!¬†I have, however decided to stay living at home, as I think that for me is the best path to take right now. So I’m going to take every opportunity I get and fully embrace my new adventure.

Right now, I’m enjoying my long summer break. I’m spending my summer days making memories with my family and friends and enjoying having no real worries or responsibilities!

I’m already looking forward to writing myLittle Life Update #2, to see whereabouts I will be by the time I write it!

Let me know in the comments what you havebeen up to so far this Summer, and any new adventures you may be taking in the next few months xoxoblog-beautiful

My Current Summer Favourites

So I thought I would share with you the products that I have been loving throughout Summer so far! I haven’t done¬†a monthly favourites post in quite a while and figured this would be a good way to get back into these kind of posts.

faves6

  1. Collection Contour Kit: Throughout Summer, I find that it’s nice to wear¬†a¬†more bronzed make up look and, to do this, I’ve been loving Collection’s contour kit. The bronzer is very pigmented and the highlighter is super pretty. It’s definitely gives more colour and dimension to your make up look, with the two powders working really well together.faves4
  2. Lush Candy Cream Bubble Bar: I recently visited Lush Oxford Street and it was amazing! With three floors of bath bombs, bubble bars and everything between, there were certainly so many different products to choose from! So I decided to try one of their bubble bars, as I never had before. After trying the Candy Cream one, I love the concept of it and it left my bath pretty in pink and smelling amazing.faves1
  3. Barry M Quick Dry Nail Polish РEat My Dust: Barry M are one of my favourite brands for nail polishes and when I tried this shade, it was no different. This has to be one of my favourites of theirs, as the pastel shade complements my skin tone really well. It also dries really quickly, which obviously just makes the whole process of painting my nails much easier!faves5
  4. Zoella Candy Cream Body Lotion: As I’m sure you already know, Zoella recently bought out her Sweet Inspirations range. However, I’m still loving the products in her Tutti Frutti collection! I think that the scent and the range of products make this collection my favourite one that she has released so far. So I recently tried out the body lotion, which smells amazing and leaves my skin feeling super soft and moisturised afterwards.faves2
  5. mac Pink Pearl Pop Lipstick: This is the first mac lipstick I have ever tried,
after¬†hearing such great things about them. And I agree with all of their great reviews! I think this shade has been perfect for Summer, as it’s very pigmented and pretty. It’s also very easy to apply and a great, long-lasting lip product to wear!faves3

So there are my 5 current Summer favourites; I’ll be sure to post more of these beauty product posts here on my blog, to let you know of any products that you may like to try for yourself. Do let me know in the comments your Summer favourites and any products you think I, or any other bloggers, may like to try ūüôā

10 Things I’m Grateful For

I was recently nominated by Sophie Samantha¬†to do the 10 things I’m grateful for tag. I think this post idea is so cute, as it allows me to express my appreciation for the things that mean the most to me. It also gives bloggers a chance to get to know one another a little better and connect to them on a much more personal level. So here are 10 things I am grateful for.

  1. My Family:¬†My family honestly mean so much to me and I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for them. I can’t thank them enough for all that they do for me and how happy they make me.
  2. Dance: Dance is my passion and its one of the main things that defines who I am. When I dance, I forget about everything, let my heart take over my head and know that I can be exactly who I want to be.
  3. My Friends:¬†I’m so grateful for my best friends, because it means a lot to know that I have people who are always going to be there to share memories¬†with and ma10things tagke me smile.
  4. Blogging:¬†I recently took a break from blogging because I was caught up with school work and therefore had a lack of motivation and ideas. But since I have returned, it has honestly made me so happy to post content and connect with my fellow bloggers ūüôā
  5. Special Memories: I have so many amazing memories with my family and my friends that I know I will be able to cherish forever.
  6. Books:¬†I’ve nearly always got my head in a book because I just love the idea of escaping to another world; becoming somebody else and living their story, even if just for a moment.
  7. My Inspirations:¬†¬†I’ve met so many amazing people that have had such a huge impact on my day to day life. They have helped me to believe in myself just that little bit more and I am honestly so grateful for¬†each and every one of them.
  8. The Little Things:¬†I think it’s so important to treasure the little things in life that put a smile on your face; like taking a bubble bath, inside jokes and lighted candles.
  9. Being Accepted: There’s no greater feeling than being accepted for who I really am, by people who appreciate what makes me¬†me.
  10. Every Opportunity that I get:¬†It’s so important to treasure each and every opportunity that’s given to you and to be accepting of new challenges and adventures that help you to become both stronger¬†and happier.

July Birchbox Review

So recently I’d seen a lot of posts about beauty box subscription packages and thought that they were such a good idea. So, this month I subscribed to Birchbox. For those of you who don’t know, Birchbox is a monthly subscription package where, each month, you receive five beauty products which are tailored to your online beauty profile. I also used their 2FOR1 offer, so I received their June box this month too. So I thought I would share with you the products in the July box and my initial thoughts on them.

birchbox box

The Box: This month, Birchbox collaborated with Millie Mackintosh to create the theme of the Never Ending Summer. And I think the design of the box is so pretty! Their boxes are really useful for keeping your own beauty products inside and definitely look super cute. The products also came in this adorable Best Day Ever bag, which can also be kept and used to take cosmetics or toiletries on holidays, perhaps.

Millie Mackintosh Lip Crayon:¬†In addition to this box design, Millie also created this gorgeous lip crayon in the shade Bohemian Rose; a Birchbox special. It’s a pretty in pink shade which both colours and nourishes the lips, so I think that Birchbox’s collaboration with Millie this month was perfect.

birchbox2

Spectrum Collection Make Up Brush:¬†Before now, I’d never tried any of Spectrum Collection’s make up brushes. However, this brush is really soft on this skin and can be used to apply any powder products. I’m really happy that Birchbox included this full size product, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be buying more of Spectrum’s brushes now!

birchbox1

Nails Inc Nail Varnish:¬†So everyone who got this nail polish in their boxes receieved a different shade and I was so happy to get this bright and vibrant coral/pink colour. I think it suits my skin tone well and is the perfect shade for the summer months. I’ve heard great things about Nails Inc’s products, so I’m certainly excited to give this one a try.

birchbox3

Indeed Labs hydraluron moisture boosting mask:¬†This is a completely innovative product by Indeed Labs, as these face masks release hyaluronic acid slowly into the skin for longer lasting relief from dry skin. Because it’s such a new and different product, I think this is possibly the one I’m most excited to use, to see how their unique formula and idea compares to other face masks I’ve used before.

birchbox

John Frieda Luxurious Volume In-Shower Treatment:¬†With this month’s box, Birchbox gave you the opportunity to choose between two full-size John Frieda products. I chose the 7 day volume treatment, which acts as a way to give extra boost and volume to your hair. I know that John Frieda is such a trustworthy brand, so I’m looking forward to seeing the results of this product!

birchbox5

So I think that July’s Birchbox was spot on for Summer. It’s also really great value for money, as many of these products are full size, so paying just ¬£10 for the box is a really great way to try out new beauty products. I would highly reccommend a Birchbox subsciption to anyone wanting to do the same, or even as a gift for family or friends!

Visit the Birchbox UK website here.

My Recent Reads

Finding Audrey, Sophie Kinsella

I’ve alwblog-finding audreyays been a fan of Sophie Kinsella, so I was really excited to hear¬†that she had written her first YA book. Without giving away the story, Finding Audrey is about a young girl with social anxiety. She struggles to leave the house and take off her dark glasses, until she meets her brother’s friend, Linus.

I really enjoyed reading Finding Audrey, and it opened my eyes up to mental health issues in a really positive way. I love the way that Sophie has written Finding Audrey; its very easy to read and, once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. It’s one of those books where you want to find out what happens in the end, but you don’t want to finish it!

I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who may be struggling with, or wanting to find out about, mental health issues, and anyone that enjoys reading young adult fiction. Finding Audrey definitely makes it into one of my all time favourite books ūüôā

Paper Towns, John Green

Before reading Paper Towns, I’d never read any novels by John Green, so blog-paper townsafter all of the great reviews that I’d heard, I was excited to read his¬†books.

Paper Towns is a love and ‘adventure’ story; when Margo doesn’t turn up to school after a all night adventure with narrator Quentin, Q must find all of the clues that lead to Margo and let him find out who she¬†really¬†is. I love the plot of Paper Towns and some of the quotes in there by Green are really sweet.¬†The fact that he uses a ‘not-your-average’¬†love story to enable both Q and Margo to find out who they really are made me love the story even more.

All the Bright Places, Jennifer Niven

blog-all the bright placesI wanted to read this after Zoella put it in her June favourites video last year, as she recommended it to all of her viewers and later put it in the Zoella Book Club. All the Bright Places is told from the perspectives of Finch and Violet, who¬†meet at school, at the top of the bell tower. Finch is constantly dreaming about dying and taking his own life, whilst Violet is struggling with the death of her sister. It’s a story based around mental heath and raises awareness of serious issues, in a very relatable and accessible way.

This is honestly one of the most emotional and engaging books I’ve ever read. I love the way that Jennifer Niven writes; her words in this book seem so beautiful and melodic. The way that she tells such a sad, yet beautiful story is incredible and the perfect YA book. Again, it’s¬†a book that’s made its way into my all time favourites and I’m excited to read more novels by Jennifer.
